Martin Fassnacht is Holder of the Otto Beisheim Endowed Chair of Marketing and Commerce at WHU in Düsseldorf, Academic Director of the WHU MBA Program and Speaker of the Marketing and Sales Group. Furthermore, he is Scientific Director of the Center for Market-oriented Corporate Management (CMM) at WHU, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Henkel Center for Consumer Goods (HCCG) and Strategic Advisor for Consumer Goods Manufacturers, Retailers and Service Companies.

He has published in leading national and international journals, e.g. Marketing Review St. Gallen, Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Service Research and Journal of Businessto-Business Marketing, which has voted one of his articles the Outstanding Article of the Year 2003. He contributed both as author and co-author to several books and working papers. The fourth completely revised and extended edition of the textbook “Price Management” was published in 2016 together with Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Hermann Simon. For their textbook “Price Management” the authors won the “Georg- Bergler-Prize for Marketing” 2010. The first English edition of the book was published in 2019.

Two years in a row, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung ranked Professor Dr. Martin Fassnacht in its Economist Ranking 2017 and 2018 among the 100 most influential economists in the Germanspeaking region. 2017 he ranked on the 56th place and in 2018 on the 64th place. The F.A.Z.chooses economists who have a high influence on the public life in Germany. The economist ranking by the F.A.Z. is published annually since 2013 and covers the performance of economists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the three categories research, media and politics

Martin was Academic Director of two executive education programs for METRO Group at WHU (2003-2010) as well as the Master of Science-Program at WHU (2006-2007), Associate Dean (2007-2009), and Director of the Marketing and Communications department of WHU (2006-2009).
