Professor Martin Fassnacht

Director of the Chair of Strategy and Marketing at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management

Since 2003, Professor Fassnacht is Director of the Chair of Strategy and Marketing at WHU. He also serves as Scientific Director of the Center for Market-oriented Corporate Management (CMM) and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Henkel Center for Consumer Goods (HCCG).

The research focuses addressed at Prof. Fassnacht's chair encompass the areas of price management, brand management, as well as retail marketing and omnichannel business. Both his research and teaching have a strong practical orientation through close collaboration with reputable companies such as Henkel, Adidas, Aston Martin, BMW, dfv Mediengruppe, Douglas, Google, IGEPA Group, Klarna, L’Oréal, Lufthansa, Meta, Telefónica, Vorwerk, and Würth-Gruppe.

Martin Fassnacht is also active as a strategic consultant, speaker, and moderator. For four consecutive years, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung listed Martin Fassnacht as one of the top 100 most influential economists in Germany in their economist ranking.

He has authored and co-authored several books and over 150 articles. The textbook “Price Management”, co-authored with Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Hermann Simon, was awarded the “Georg- Bergler-Prize for Marketing” in 2010 and is now available in several languages such as German, English, Korean, Italian, Russian, Polish, and Chinese. The fifth completely revised and extended edition is due in fall 2024.
