Professor Karoline Strauss, PhD

ESSEC Sports Chair and Professor of Management at ESSEC Business School Paris

Karoline Strauss is Professor of Management at ESSEC Business School and holder of the ESSEC Sports Chair. She teaches leadership, organizational behavior, and human resource management. Her research focuses on how leaders and employees bring about change and shape the future, such as by contributing to (or resisting) change and innovation. Professor Strauss has collaborated with organizations from a wide range of sectors, including health care, policing, telecommunications, and sports.

Since 2020, she leads ESSEC Sports Chair, a newly founded research and teaching center at ESSEC which builds on the institution’s long-standing expertise in the sport sector. The Chair is supported by industry partners which represent the sports ecosystem, including sponsors, federations, private clubs, and non-profit associations. It offers a specialization in sport business to ESSEC’s students and conducts research on sports industry related topics.

Professor Strauss’ work has been published in leading international journals such as the Journal of Management, the Journal of Applied Psychology, and Human Resource Management and won numerous awards. She also serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals.

Professor Strauss holds a PhD in Organizational Psychology from the University of Sheffield, UK, and an MSc in Psychology from the University of Vienna. Prior to joining ESSEC in 2017 she was an Associate Professor in Organizational Behavior at Warwick Business School, UK.
