Professor of Production, Technology and Operations Management at IESE Business School
Marc Sachon is a Professor in the Production, Technology and Operations Management Department. He has a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (MS&E) from Stanford University, an MBA from IESE, University of Navarra, and a Master’s in Aerospace Technology from the University of Stuttgart, Germany. His main areas of interest are operations strategy, industry 4.0 and automotive.
Professor Sachon is a member of the Executive Education Academic Committee, which monitors the academic integrity of all the IESE Executive Education programs. He is the academic director of all Advanced Management Program (AMP) and also of the focused programs “Driving Change Successfully”, “Achieving Operational Excellence” and “Industry 4.0”. He teaches operations strategy, operations management and operational excellence in the IESE Executive Education and MBA programs. He is the chairman of the Automotive Industry Meeting (IESE Auto), held annually at IESE during the month of November. In addition to IESE, Professor Sachon has taught courses at other universities in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Iceland, Mexico, and Russia.
His areas of research focus on supply chain management, especially in the automotive industry and Industry 4.0. He has published in academic journals such as IEEE Transactions and in business journals such as European Business Forum (EBF). He has written chapters for several books on operations management and process improvement. His cases are among those most widely distributed by IESE (Aldi, Porsche, Netflix).
Before entering the academic world, Professor Sachon worked for several years at IBM Germany. As a consultant, he has taken part in projects in different industries, from airlines and automotive, fashion and FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) companies to logistics, pharmaceutical and utility companies. He is a member of the board of directors of CEMA, a German IT company.
